VP Duterte gives away Christmas gifts to trike drivers, PWDs in Manila


Vice President Sara Duterte on Saturday, Dec. 17, led the distribution of Christmas packages to her supporters in Manila and Quezon City, which she said was also a way for her to thank them for their support in the 2022 elections.

“Muli nating binisita ang ating mga kababayan mula sa mga sektor ng urban poor, tricycle drivers, online-app riders, at Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) na pinuntahan natin noong (We also visited our fellowmen from the sectors of urban poor, tricycle drivers, online-app riders, and Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) that we also visited last) May elections,” the official wrote on Facebook.

Duterte shared that she brought with her 800 Christmas packages for the urban poor in Happy Land in Tondo, Manila, 1,400 for members of the Batasan Hills Tricycle and Drivers Association (BARTODA), 500 for online booking app riders, and 500 for the PWDs in Quezon City.

The Vice President said her visit to the urban poor was a way to personally thank her supporters.

“Naging pagkakataon ko ang pagbisitang ito upang personal na magpasalamat sa ating mga kababayan sa kanilang tulong at suporta noong nakaraang kampanya at upang maipaabot ang aking mensahe para sa Pasko (This visit became an opportunity to personally thank our fellowmen for their help and support during the past campaign and to give them our message for Christmas),” she said.

The post was accompanied by photos of Duterte with her supporters, one of which showed her accompanied by barangay officials.

She also shared her Christmas message to the sectors, saying Christmas is a time for love, forgiveness, and sharing.

“Kahit simple lang ang ating preparasyon, ang importante sa Pasko ay masaya ang ating mga mahal sa buhay (Even our preparation is simple, what’s important for Christmas is that our loved ones are happy),” she said.

“Ang daan po papunta sa kapayapaan ay nagsisimula sa pagmamahal, pagpapatawad, at pagbibigay (The path to peace starts with love, forgiveness, and sharing),” the Vice President said.

Earlier, the official also greeted her social media followers a Merry Christmas, and wished for everyone to have a meaningful celebration.
