Misamis Occidental 2nd district Rep. Ando Oaminal helped kicked off the political clan's "expanded" gift-giving tradition for local folk ahead of Christmas.
Oaminal was at the City Gym in Lam-an, Ozamiz City last Dec. 8 for the distribution of Christmas gifts packs to his constituents. Also present at the event was Misamis Occidental Governor Henry Oaminal Sr.
“It’s a privilege to be trusted by the Misamisnons in my district, and I’m intent on returning their appreciation for my service,” Rep. Oaminal said.
The gift packs contain noche buena and media noche items.
According to the elder Oaminal, gift-giving has been an annual tradition for the family as they would open their home every Christmas season to caroling Misamisnons.
But this year, instead of just opening the family home, the tradition has been expanded to accommodate all residents of Misamis Occidental.
Rep. Oaminal bared that he intends to dole out "pamasko" or Christmas gifts to at least 100,000 families. Oaminal Sr., on the other hand, has pamasko allocations for over 180,000 families.
Pocket distributions have also been held at different municipalities in the province following the kickoff.
“We want every Misamisnon to not have to worry about where and how they will get their noche buena and media noche feast. Easing them of this burden will give them the opportunity to enjoy the festivities of this blessed holiday with their families," said Oaminal Sr., who is a former deputy speaker at the House of Representatives.
