Cop who allegedly robbed gas station in Bohol province nabbed in hot pursuit


CEBU CITY -- A policeman was arrested after he allegedly robbed a gasoline station in Bohol province on Saturday, Dec. 17.

The suspect was identified as S/Sgt. Conchito Payac Jr., who was assigned at Dauis Police Station as desk officer.

The 33-year-old Payac is a resident of Barangay Aguining in Pres. Carlos P. Garcia town, Bohol.

Lt. Col. Lorenzo Batuan, director of the Bohol Provincial Police Office, said Payac was arrested in a hot-pursuit operation shortly before 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17.

Payac was accused of allegedly robbing AVA gasoline station in Purok 4, Barangay Poblacion, Trinidad.

Police said Payac was identified by the cashiers and pump attendants of AVA Gas Station as the one who robbed the establishment.

Operatives of the Provincial Intelligence Unit cornered Payac in Barangay Tagum Sur in Trinidad town, Bohol.

Seized from the suspect’s possession during the arrest was his service firearm, a 9mm Glock pistol, P8,000 cash and a motorcycle.

Batuan said there were witnesses who identified the policeman as the one who also robbed a gas station in Alicia and Duero towns.

Batuan said criminal and administrative charges will be filed against Payac.

“I already instructed the station commanders of Duero and Alica police stations to assist all the victims in filing appropriate charges the soonest possible time against the suspect.,” said Batuan.

“We assure the public that this police officer will face the consequences of his actions,” added Batuan.
