Commemorative medals to be issued to mark BTS' 10th anniversary

Grammy-nominated K-pop idol group BTS will mark their 10th anniversary in June next year and ahead of the milestone, commemorative medals will be issued. 

The Korea Minting, Security Printing and ID Card Operating Corporation (KOMSCO; the sole manufacturer of South Korea’s currency, announced that commemorative medals will be issued for BTS’ 10th anniversary.

A total of 87,777 commemorative and limited edition medals will be made in three types of gold and one type of silver. 

Pre-orders will be held from Dec. 16 to 25 in Korea and abroad on a first-come, first-served basis. 

KOMSCO and HYBE, BTS’ parent company, have agreed to release two commemorative medals to celebrate BTS’ 10th anniversary since debuting in 2013. 

The first commemorative medal was designed with the BTS logo and the number “10,” which refers to the 10th anniversary. 

The front of the medal is engraved with the BTS name and logo surrounded by the names of the seven members: RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook.  

On both sides, “2013” (debut year) and “2023” (10th anniversary year) are also engraved  In the background, the BTS logo and the number “10” are designed as a pattern, extending outward from the center. 

On the back of the medal, the number “10” is expressed in depth with special embossing technology, making it shine like a mirror. 

Around the number “10,” the BTS logo, “10th Anniversary,” “Au999” (gold purity) or “Ag 999" (sterling silver) and the KOMSCO mark are engraved, and the background is embroidered with forever shining stars.

The gold medals will come in 1 ounce, ½ ounce and ¼ ounce sizes and limited to 10,000 pieces (1,000 1 ounce, 2,000 ½ ounce and 7,000 ¼ ounce), symbolizing BTS’ 10th anniversary. 

The silver medal is ½ ounce and will be produced in limited quantities of 77,777 pieces, referring to the seven members of BTS. 

The 1 ounce gold medal (31.1 grams with 99.9 percent purity) will be sold at 3.96 million won each ($3,000), the ½ ounce is 2.2 million won ($1,680) and the ¼ ounce is 1.155 million won ($882). The ½ ounce silver medal is priced at 135,000 won ($103). 

In Korea, the commemorative medals can be purchased from Dec. 16 to 25 at www.koreamint.com, weverseshop.onelink.me/BZSY/qlqwbbwl, www.hwadong.com , www.thehyundai.com, www.hmall.com, and Shinhan Bank branches nationwide.

Overseas, the medals can be purchased at G Market global site at http://mg.gmarket.co.kr/ and designated dealers in major countries.

The commemorative medals will be delivered starting in March 2023.
