Investigation said the Urdaneta City Police Station and Pangasinan Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team flagged down a Toyota Wigo while conducting a checkpoint but the vehicle sped off.

Police cornered the car and arrested the occupants after a one-kilometer chase.

Col. Jeff Fanged, Pangasinan police director, identified the suspects as Rolando Quero, 37, and Rommel Quero, 33, of Barangay Anonas, Urdaneta City.

The duo yielded one caliber .38 revolver without visible serial number and other markings with six bullets, two small heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu with an estimated weight of 15 grams and valued P10,200, rolled aluminum foil, and shoulder bag with a grenade.

The car had been under constant monitoring after it was involved in a series of robbery incidents targeting convenience stores in Pangasinan and La Union. The vehicle matched the description of the suspects’ getaway car in CCTV footages.

Suspects and pieces of evidence are now under the custody of the Urdaneta City police. They face charges for violation of Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code and Republic Acts 9165, 9156, and 10591.
