We often hear the term "toxic" these days.
Either relating to social media, the workplace, among others.
But what does it mean exactly?
It's defined by Merriam Webster as 1. “containing or being poisonous material especially when capable of causing death or serious debilitation,” 2. “exhibiting symptoms of infection or toxicosis,”; 3. “extremely harsh, malicious, or harmful,” or 4. “relating to or being an asset that has lost so much value that it cannot be sold on the market.”
Ah, but actress Maxene Magalona has her own definition of the term.

She recently shared her thoughts about it on social media.
She centered on toxicity as seen on people.
Why?
Well, she used to be one.
She said, “I sincerely believe that toxic people are not inherently bad or evil. They are just lost souls who have not found their alignment yet. I know this because I used to be toxic AF.”
“I am not here to judge them or look down on them," she added. "I am simply choosing to stay away from people who continuously drain me of my energy."
But who are these toxic people exactly?
Here are 10 signs to watch out for according to Maxene:
1. Nothing you can say or do is good enough.
2. They comment on the smallest flaw or perceived imperfection
3. They drag up your past and won’t allow you to be different.
4.They act like they are fabulous and never make mistakes.
5. They leave you feeling guilty and ashamed of who you are.
6. They’re critical, controlling and don’t think about your needs.
7. They leave you feeling beaten, wounded, battered bruised and torn.
8. They violate your boundaries, and they never respect “no”.
9. They don’t care about your feelings – and they like to see you suffer.
10. It’s always about them, and what they think, and want and feel.
So, are you one?
