The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) has tapped an app-based transportation service company to address shortage of transportation at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
In a statement, MIAA General Manager Cesar Chiong said he initiated talks with Grab Philippines as early as September to enhance transport service at the NAIA in anticipation of increased demand for transport vehicles--which is already being felt through complaints of hours-long waiting before getting taxis and other mode of transportation out of NAIA.
Based on the agreement under the "Airport to Anywhere (ATA)" pilot program, Grab Philippines will dedicate 200 accredited vehicles at the NAIA.
"The ATA can be booked through the Grab mobile app with fixed pricing based on drop off location and no surge charges," Chiong said.
NAIA's monthly passenger volume last month has reached 3.1 million or a 229 percent increase compared with the figures for the same period last year.
Chiong said they expect the upward trend in passenger traffic to be more pronounced starting DEc. 16, in view of our arriving Filipinos from abroad.
