ILOILO CITY -- The provincial government of Antique has won its second Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG).
“This award recognizes the provincial government’s hard work in improving the lives of Antiqueños through our different government programs and services,” Governor Rhodora ‘Dodod’ Cadiao told Manila Bulletin in a phone interview.
Cadiao received the SGLG from Secretary Benjamin ‘Benhur’ Abalos Jr. of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) during the awarding ceremony at Manila Hotel on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2022.

Under the 'The Seal of Good Local Governance Act of 2019' (R.A. 11292), SGLG refers to 'an award, incentive, honor and recognition-based program for all LGUs, and is a continuing commitment for LGUs to continually progress and improve their performance.'
“I am elated that we earned the SGLG again. We also had this award in 2018,” said Cadiao.
The DILG acknowledged sound governance of the local government unit (LGU) of Antique under the administration of Cadiao in 10 different governance areas.
These are the performances in Financial Administration and Sustainability; Disaster Preparedness; Social Protection and Sensitivity; Health Compliance and Responsiveness; Sustainable Education; Business-Friendliness and Competitiveness; Safety, Peace and Order; Environmental Management; Tourism, Heritage Development, Culture and Arts; and Youth Development.
As an SGLG winner, the provincial government of Antique is entitled to DILG’s Conditional Matching Grant to Provinces (CMGP).
Cadiao said the province is getting a P9 million in financial grant, which will be used for infrastructure projects such as roads.
Aside from the provincial government, the LGUs of Barbaza, Patnongon, and San Jose de Buenavista towns are also SGLG winners.
