Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Police Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III congratulated his 38 personnel and 10 members of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) who completed the 10-day Special Motorcycle Armed Response Team (SMART) training on Tuesday, Dec. 13.
The SMART closing ceremony was held at the Camp Karingal in Sikatuna Village, Quezon City.
The training program started last Nov. 29.
The QCPD said the training aims to improve riding skills and techniques of the cops which they can use in responding to crimes. It also helps develop their mental and physical preparedness and confidence in responding to scenarios of terrorism and any emerging situation.
The participants underwent training that focused on how to deal with vehicular and motorcycle ambush, employ first aid, and the basic principles of marksmanship with pistol/rifle, and motorcycle police intervention.
"We hope that with your volunteer service and dedication, we can prevent these criminals from doing their nefarious acts. We will ensure that they will be caught para hindi na sila makaulit (so that they will not be able to repeat their illegal acts)” the QCPD chief said.
