This was disclosed by his cousin, House Speaker Martin Romualdez in a media interview on Wednesday morning (Philippine time).

"He's got a cold, napaos lang yata; he has a hoarse voice). I think he has common cold right now. I told him to rest. I hope he gets some rest tonight," Romualdez said.

The President had to skip his press briefing with the Philippine media scheduled on Tuesday night in Brussels due to his current condition.

Marcos' voice in his engagements on Dec. 13, his second day in Brussels, was already hoarse. He even had to apologize for it in his two engagements.

"Please excuse my voice. Winter is not suitable to Filipinos," he said as he began delivering his remarks at the 10th Association of Southeast Asian Nations-European Union (ASEAN-EU) Business Summit in the afternoon.

Prior to this, he also said the same in during his speech at the C-suite Luncheon.

"I would also like at this point to apologize for my voice, but you must understand that a temperature difference of --- from 35 degrees to -3 is a big jump for this old body," the President said.

The chief executive, however, is still expected to attend the ASEAN-EU Commemorative Summit and hold bilateral meetings with various European counterparts on Dec. 14.
