The Kalibo International Airport (KIA) in Aklan has opened new international flight routes in a bid to help revive the Philippine tourism industry,
In a statement, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said the new routes will provide travelers with greater access to the region, particularly the world-famous Boracay.
"The development is expected to generate significant economic benefits for the Kalibo community, including the creation of new jobs and the expansion of local businesses," the statement read.
KIA currently serves daily international flights to and from Incheon, South Korea from Air Seoul.
Additional flights from Tiger Air will also be added through the Taipei-Kalibo-Taipei route starting Dec. 29.
