The northeast monsoon and intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will be the dominant weather systems in the country in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Wednesday, Dec. 14.

Cloudy and rainy weather will prevail over Aurora, Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, and Nueva Vizcaya due to the northeast monsoon or “amihan.”

PAGASA warned against possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to heavy rains in these areas.

The amihan may also bring partly cloudy to cloudy weather with light monsoon rains over Ilocos Region and Cordillera Administrative Region.

Meanwhile, PAGASA said the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the ITCZ or localized thunderstorms.

The public is advised to remain vigilant as severe thunderstorms may also cause flash floods or landslides, especially in areas prone to these hazards.
