2 persons with P20 M shabu arrested in Taguig  


A wayward car flagged down by the police yielded P20.4 million worth of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) resulting in the arrest of an alleged leader of a criminal group in Taguig.

According to Southern Police District (SPD) chief Brig. Gen. Kirby John Kraft, two suspects aboard the vehicle were arrested along Pendatun Street in Barangay Maharlika in Taguig on Dec. 13.

Joint elements of the Taguig police’s Substation 7 and the Station Intelligence Section were conducting “Oplan Sita” when they flagged down a driver for driving recklessly.

Upon inspection, the lawmen saw a partially opened green Chinese tea bags containing plastic sachets with white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu.

Arrested were Basser Utto, 32, and Normina Datuan, 25. According to the SPD, Utto is the alleged leader of the Utto Criminal Group, tagged as responsible for the proliferation of illegal drugs in Taguig and nearby cities.

The police recovered three Chinese tea bags containing 60 plastic sachets of suspected shabu weighing 3 kilos valued at P20.4 million and the car used by the suspects.

Both suspects will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).

“I am confident we can do more to eliminate illegal drugs in the future. Thank you to our police for the continued performance of their duties to protect our citizens,” said Kraft.
