SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – The provincial government recently trained 146 first responders on high-angle search and rescue to upgrade their skills and knowledge in principles of life saving techniques on a high angle slope.
Trained by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office were rescuers from Rosario, Burgos, Santol, Naguilian, and Santo Tomas.
Also discussed in the training were standard first aid and basic life support, simple machine (pulley system) operation, art of searching, knot-tying, basket management, familiarization on high angle equipment, and practicum on ascending and descending.
The provincial government continues to train community-based first responders in different areas of operation which Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David said is vital in attaining the province’s vision to be the heart of agri-tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025.
The training also ensures the safety of the people and maintain its quick response time during disasters.
