Kristel Macrohon finishes into Top 10 of world weightlifting tilt
Kristel Macrohon gave the best she could against her more experienced rivals and finished into the Top 10 of her weight class in the 2022 IWF World Weightlifting Championships in Bogota, Colombia Monday, Dec. 12 (Tuesday in Manila).

The 26-year-old gold medalist of the 2019 Southeast Asian Games posted a total lift of 232 kilograms in the women’s 71kg division behind eventual champion Loredana Toma of Romania, who lifted 256 kgs.
Macrohon started her campaign by placing 10th in snatch with a 104-kg lift on her third attempt.
She tried to catch up with her rivals in the clean and jerk, but managed only ninth with a 128-kg lift on her third try.
Her 232-kg total lift actually eclipsed the SEAG silver-medal standard of 223 kgs.
Meanwhile, Vanessa Sarno, who was reportedly nursing a hand injury, failed to make it inside the Top 10 of the total and snatch events, but placed 10th in the clean and jerk with a 125 kg lift.
Macrohon and Sarno still acquired Olympic qualifying points needed to earn berths to the 2024 Paris Games.
Overall, the Philippines went home with three gold medals courtesy of reigning Olympic champion Hidilyn Diaz, who ruled the total, snatch, and clean and jerk in the women’s 55kg division.
