PNP: Drop in crime rate, high crime-solving efficiency in Central Visayas
The Police Regional Office 7 has recorded a decrease in crime incidents in Central Visayas region in just a span of two months and attributed it to strategic anti-crime security adjustments and deployment that also led to more 99 percent crime clearance efficiency.
In a data released by the PRO7, a total of 37,444 criminal incidents were recorded from October to the first week of December, a 5.24 percent drop compared to the same period last year with 39,514 cases.
The index crimes, known as crimes of serious nature that include murder, homicide, robbery and carnapping, the figure also went down by 9.84 percent.
PRO7 director Brig. Gen. Roderick Augustus Alba said the decrease in the criminal incidents are an offshoot of aggressive anti-criminality campaign that was implemented in the past two months.
"The cooperation of every uniformed personnel, and their openness and support to the anti-crime strategies that we introduced, is a significant contribution to these accomplishments. These figures are the fruits of the relentless efforts and dedication of the men and women in uniform to serve and protect the community," said Alba.
Alba also disclosed that out of 21,171 cases of criminal incidents, a total of 21,033 were already cleared.
This means a 99.35 percent Crime Clearance Efficiency while Crime Solution Efficiency is posted at 86.73 percent, or 18,361 cases solved.
Alba assured the public of continuous employment of innovative approaches to complement and broaden anti-criminality efforts and campaigns.
