Pasig LGU to start Christmas cash gift distribution to seniors

Published Dec 12, 2022 04:48 pm

Heads up Pasigueno seniors! The Pasig City local government will start distributing its annual Christmas cash gifts to senior citizens on Tuesday, Dec. 13, to Friday, Dec. 16.

Complimentary to the “Pamaskong Handog” food packs that each family in Pasig receives, senior citizens are also gifted with financial assistance worth P3,000 per person from the local government every Christmas season.

Over 60,000 senior citizens in Pasig City were validated by the Office for Senior Citizen Affairs (OSCA), making them eligible to claim the cash gifts for 2022.

There are two modes of cash gift distribution opened by OSCA: an ATM payout, for seniors who have received their cash cards, and the manual payout, for seniors who do not yet have cash cards.

For this year, 17,050 seniors will claim their cash gifts through the manual payout scheme at their assigned distribution sites. Meanwhile, 47,739 seniors will be able to get their cash gifts via cash cards at the designated ATM sites.

The Pasig City Public Information Office (PIO) published on their social media pages the distribution schedules and locations per barangay for both the ATM and non-ATM payout.

Manual payout

Claimants of the cash gifts are urged to arrive at the distribution site based on their respective schedules. There is no need to arrive at the venue earlier than the stated time.

Senior citizens who claim their cash gifts through the manual payout must bring the original and two photocopies of their senior citizen ID.

If the claimant is a family representative, they must present an authorization letter (signed thrice or has a thumbmark of the senior citizen), a photocopy of the representative’s government-issued ID (with a written contact number on the copy), and a recent picture of the representative with the senior citizen (with proof of date).

If the claimant is a non-family representative or guardian, they must bring the same documents as those required by the family representative claimant. However, they must also present a barangay clearance of the representative, and a notarized affidavit of guardianship.

Unclaimed cash gifts in this rollout can no longer be given in 2023 because the budget allocated for the financial assistance in 2022 is only valid this year, the local government explained. The unclaimed cash assistance is liquidated and returned to the funds of the local government.

If the senior citizen or the representatives cannot claim their cash gifts on their schedules, they may wait for further announcements if there will be new distribution schedules.

ATM payout

Seniors who will get their cash gifts via ATM are advised to wait for announcements from the Pasig PIO on what date between Dec. 13 and Dec. 16 their cash gifts will be available to withdraw from their benefit cash cards.

Seniors who have lost or are encountering problems with their cash cards, and are in the list of ATM holders, are urged to immediately report their issues to the OSCA located at the fourth floor of the Pasig City Hall. They will be given an endorsement letter in order to claim the cash gifts over-the-counter at the Landbank at C. Raymundo. They must bring a notarized affidavit of loss.

Seniors who just claimed their 2020-2021 Blue ATM cards this November will receive their cash gifts through the manual payout.

Those who have received their Green cash cards this November will be able to get their cash gifts through the ATM.

Local Senior Pension

The local government also announced the payout of the Local Senior Pension (LSP) for the months of August to December will run simultaneously with the cash gift distribution.

The required documents to bring at the site and the procedures to be followed for both manual and ATM payouts of the LSP are similar to that of the cash gifts.

The list of beneficiaries and their schedules per barangay can be viewed on the Pasig PIO social media pages.

If the seniors, family or non-family representatives will get both the Christmas cash gift, and the LSP, they must bring two sets of their required documents. Their claims for both cash gift and LSP will be treated as separate transactions.

Through the LSP, each eligible senior citizen will be given financial assistance worth P500 per month.
