DHSUD to help construct vertical housing project for 10,000 ISFs in CamSur

The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) will help construct a vertical housing project in Camarines Sur which could accommodate 10,000 housing units to the province's informal settler families (ISFs) and low-income families.

DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar said the construction of a housing building in Barangay Concepcion, Naga City is stipulated in the memorandum of understanding (MOU) he signed with Camarines Sur Gov. Vincenzo Renato Luigi Villafuerte.

The MOU with Camarines Sur is the 29th signed by DHSUD with various local government units from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

“This (MOU signing) is just the start of a much challenging work ahead, not only for us at DHSUD but for all of us, especially the local government. We need to help each other in order to ensure the success of the government's housing program," said Acuzar.

The DHSUD isn targeting to build one million units every year until 2028 to address the 6.5 million housing backlog.

Acuzar highlighted the important role of the local government units (LGUs) in the flagship housing program—from planning and conceptualization up to the identification of beneficiaries and even to the estate management and sustainability of the projects.
