BTS' Jin gets ready for military service; 270 riot police to be deployed at enlistment site
Two days before his enlistment, Grammy-nominated group BTS member Jin is ready for his military enlistment.
On Dec. 11, Jin posted a photo of himself on the Weverse app, sporting a short hair for his military service.
“It’s cuter than I thought,” he wrote.

Jin will be enlisting in the military on Dec. 13 at the 5th Infantry Division recruit training center in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi Province in South Korea. He will serve as an active duty soldier and will be deployed on the frontline near the border between South and North Korea.
As the oldest member of BTS, Jin, who turned 30 on Dec. 4, is the first to start his military service, a mandatory duty for all Korean men.
Authorities held a meeting for the mobilization of personnel as thousands of BTS ARMYs are expected to go to Jin’s enlistment site to bid him goodbye.
After the Itaewon crowd crush on Oct. 29, authorities appeared to be extra cautious in order to prevent any accident from happening.
Korean media reported on Dec. 1 that military authorities, local government, police and fire station are fully prepared to prevent any untoward incidents from occurring on Jin’s enlistment.
The report stated that there will be about 200 recruits including Jin who will enter the boot camp on Dec. 13.
Big Hit Music earlier announced that there will be no event on the day of Jin’s enlistment and requested fans not to go there.
Only the recruit with the enlistment notice and his family can enter the enlistment site. There will be a ceremony before the recruits go to their respective dorms.
The report added that the Yeoncheon Police Station, which has jurisdiction over the area, held a countermeasure meeting on Dec. 9 to discuss Jin’s enlistment.
On Dec. 13, the police will set up a barricade in front of the main entrance of the 5th Infantry Division to deal with emergencies and unexpected situations.
The police are planning to deploy 270 personnel from three anti-riot police as part of the security measures.
Illegal street vendors and food trucks will be barred to reduce congestion at the enlistment site.
A situation room for the military, police, firemen and local government will be set up near the main gate of the boot camp. An ambulance will also be on standby.
