BAGUIO CITY – With the theme "A Renaissance of Wonder and Beauty," the city government on Monday, Dec. 12, officially launched the highly anticipated and popular Baguio Flower Festival or Panagbenga in February.
The launching of Panagbenga and the calender of activities was attended by locals officials and officials of the Baguio Flower Festival Festival Inc. (BFFFI) at the city hall grounds.
"No holds barred, it is time for us to revive our cultural wealth and we are happy, all of us, because of the re-emergence of economy despite our collapse for almost two years due to the pandemic," said Mayor Benjamin Magalong here.
Magalong assured residents and visitors that minimum health protocols will remain.
"Let Panagbenga flourish again and again as a source of hope and a sense of pride for the community," he said.
"Yes, I'm very excited that now we can celebrate Panagbenga fully, happily, as we know that our tourists have been waiting for it for a long time. We don't want what happened in other countries to increase the number of Covid cases due to the celebration, but this time we have prepared everything to make our celebration safe," Magalong added.
Anthony de Leon, chairman of the Pangbenga executive committee, the BFFFI will make all activities bigger next year, especially the traditional Panagbenga events, to make them more enjoyable for spectators.
"As is our custom, the BFFFI will invite the street dancing participants from the Cordillera province to also show their cultural presentation and even on the float we are also invited by big companies that have participated before and even the Hall of Famers will participate in the float parade,” said De Leon.
The Panagbenga Festival which starts on Feb. 1 and ends March 5 kicks off with the grand opening parade on Feb. 1.
