Two men were arrested by the police for carrying guns in public and frightening residents in two barangays in Quezon City on Saturday, Dec. 10.
Lt. Col. Mark Janis Ballesteros, QCPD) Talipapa Station (PS 3) commander, identified the arrested suspect as Marlon Marino, 41, of Barangay Balon Bato, Quezon City.
QCPD said that PS 3 personnel were immediately dispatch to Ilalim ng Tulay, in Brgy. Balon Bato at around 10 p.m. on Saturday after they recieved a report from a concerned citizen regarding a man who was brandishing a gun while in the area.
Upon their arrival at the place, police saw Marino holding a caliber .38 revolver in front of some bystanders, prompting them to arrest him.
The operatives confiscated the said firearm loaded with two live ammunition from the suspect.
Members of the QCPD Novaliches Station (PS 4), under the leadership Lt. Col. Jerry Castillo, also arrested Marco Ferrer, 18, of Brgy. Holy Spirit, Quezon City at about 9:05 p.m. on the same day.
The QCPD said that the PS 4 received a telephone call from a concerened citizen about an armed man who was creating trouble along Sarmiento Street, Brgy. Novaliches Proper, Novaliches, Quezon City causing fear to the neighborhood.
Responding police officers spotted Ferrer shouting and challenging some residents for a fistfight while carrying an improvised gun.
The QCPD said that Ferrer tried to resist while being arrested by the operatives.
The cops confiscated his improvised handgun and a cal. 38 bullet.
The suspects will be charged with violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, police said.
Additional cases for alarms and scandals and resistance and disobedience will also be filed against Ferrer, it added.
