Dagupan City students triumph in international dance competition in Singapore

DAGUPAN CITY – A group of students here emerged as overall champions in the recently-concluded Youth Friendship Festival 2022 held December 1-3 at the Victoria Theatre in Singapore.

Dagupan City Information Office said that the participants who represented the Philippines in the three-day event came from the Performing Arts Studio Philippines where Pangasinan's internationally-awarded young dancers hone their skills. PASP is also recognized as one of the most established dance schools in the north.

Performing Arts Studio Artistic Director and Head Teacher Ms. Choni Young was elated and proud to be part of the Youth Friendship Festival that featured competitors from Korea, host Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, United States, Canada, United Kingdom and France.

"We take pride that our students are taught to be dynamic, collaborative and disciplined dancers at their very young age,” said Choni Young.

Miss Young said the Philippines’ dance group members whose ages ranged from six to 14, came from Dagupan City, San Carlos City, Mangaldan and Calasiao.

Bagging the gold award and hailed as overall champion was the contemporary group composed of Kristine Mae delos Santos, Allaniz Keith Ferrer, Alyssandra Vinluan and Sundee Blaire Quimosing.

The Philippines’ Junior contemporary group composed of Hannah Jhyreen Mula-Cruz, Chloe Faith Columbino, Raezhan Macaranas, Nashly Therese Rosario, Margaux Angelique Ugaban, Gavrielle Vinluan, Jamilla Keith Ferrer and Aleyana de Vera was also adjudged as overall top two scorer with similarly gold award.

In solo classical ballet, both Allaniz Keith Ferrer and Margaux Angelique Ugaban clinched their gold awards while silver awardees were Sophia Mendoza, Pia Olivia Cerezo, Julia Zoella Seen, Aleyana de Vera, Jamilla Keith Ferrer and Kristine Mae delos Santos.

The Performing Arts Studio Philippines has established itself as the longest operating dance school in Pangasinan. It has been continuously operating since it was established in 2016.
