SAGIP Party-List Representative Rodante Marcoleta (House of Representatives)

Rodante Marcoleta, 69, is now on his sixth term as the Social Amelioration and Genuine Intervention on Poverty (SAGIP) Partylist representative.

The SAGIP Partylist lists as its goals "poverty reduction, social protection of youth and women, quality education, and universal healthcare."

According to their website, the organization lists its goals as: to adopt a universal health care system, improve the country's health sector, provide the marginalized equitable access to quality health care; implement social development programs; help locals through the utilization of idle government lands and creation of sustainable communities.

SAGIP Partylist has coordinated with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) for the implementation of programs such as assistance to individuals in crisis situations (AICS), cash-for-work, and the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) in various provinces nationwide.

Marcoleta, a lawyer, was born on July 29, 1953 in Paniqui, Tarlac.

Marcoleta had also represented the Alagad Partylist during the 13th (2004 to 2007), 14th (2007 to 2010), and 15th (2010 to 2013) Congress.

He was elected as the SAGIP representative in the 17th Congress (2016 to 2019) and was a House Deputy Speaker during the 18th Congress (2019 to 2022).

According to the House of Representatives website, Marcoleta was one of the principal authors of House Bill (HB) 0163 or the Laguna Bay Solar Park Development Act of 2022, which aims to accelerate the development of renewable energy in the country; HB 0173 or the Development of the Downstream Natural Gas Act; and HB 0176 or the Overseas Filipino Workers Retirement Systems Act of 2022, which will "allow OFWs to receive retirement pay at an earlier age or to receive voluntary separation benefits upon their retirement."

Marcoleta ran for the Senate under the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) in the last 2022 elections. He is known for his vocal opposition to the renewal of the ABS-CBN franchise and was among the 70 representatives who rejected the television network's application for franchise renewal.
