On Dec. 9, Korean agency JYP Entertainment announced that Jinni, 18, a member of NMIXX, terminated her contract and left her group for personal reasons.
This came just nearly 10 months after NMIXX made their debut on Feb. 22 this year with the album “Ad Mare.”
“Jinni, who has been a part of NMIXX, decided to terminate her contract and leave the team for personal reasons. We're sorry for causing concerns with the sudden news,” the agency stated, according to SBS News.
It added, “This also means that from this moment forward, all future activities of NMIXX will be carried on as a six-member group. We hope NSWERs will continue to send support for the six NMIXX members growing from this and pursuing their dreams.”
“Also, please continue to root for JINNI, who plans to embark on a new path. We apologize once again to the supportive fans for this news,” JYP Entertainment said.
The announcement shocked fans and speculations arose whether she really quit the group or was kicked out.
Jinni was a trainee for years under JYP Entertainment before making her debut in NMIXX.
A YouTube channel raised an issue about Jinni being romantically involved with a member of a rookie K-pop boy band.
Her past comments in which she said she was looking forward to NMIXX’s comeback and then quitting NMIXX made fans wonder if she was removed from the group.
NMIXX won Favorite New Artist at the recent 2022 MAMA Awards.
