The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Thursday morning, Dec. 1 said the shear line and intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will trigger scattered rains over parts of the country.

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may prevail over Batanes, Apayao, Cagayan, Rizal, Laguna, Quezon, and Camarines Norte due to the shear line—an area where warm and cold air meets.

Visayas, Caraga, Davao Region, Northern Mindanao, and Zamboanga del Norte may also experience cloudy weather with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms because of the ITCZ—a line where winds coming from the northern and hemispheres converge.

PAGASA warned those in areas affected by the shear line and ITCZ to stay vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to heavy rains.

In the next 24 hours, PAGASA said the rest of the country, including Metro Manila, will have partly cloudy to cloudy weather with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

The public is advised to be vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms, which are often accompanied by sudden heavy rains, lightning, thunder, gusts of wind, and sometimes hail.
