The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) confirmed that a 39-year-old woman from Taytay, Rizal claimed her prize at the main office in Mandaluyong City last Nov. 7 after correctly guessing the winning combination for the Megalotto 6/45 draw on Nov. 4 which was 16-13-02-19-11-07.

The winner, who is a struggling seamstress, bagged the jackpot prize amounting to P21,436,089.60. She claimed her prize at the office of lawyer Anna Katrina Nicole C. Contacto.

“Dati-rati ay may sarili po akong pwesto, bumagsak po ang negosyo kong patahian dahil sa pandemya (I used to have a small business which I worked as a seamstress but was eventually put to an end during the pandemic,” the winner said, as told to PCSO.

However, after winning the lotto prize, the winner has already decided to revive her sewing business. Thus, she thanked the PCSO for the opportunity. “Dahil dito, sigurado akong makakabangon kaming muli sa pagkalugi. Ipapatayo ko na muli ang aking patahian (Because of this, I am sure we will be able to recover from the loss. I'm going to restart my sewing business again),” she added.

The winner also shared how thankful she was for winning the lotto jackpot prize after having to experience life’s hardships one after another. Nagsabay sabay po ang dagok sa aking buhay noong panahong iyon (The blow to my life at that time came at the same time),” she recounted.

Aside from being forced to shut down her sewing business due to a lack of customers, the winner said they had to sell their house to pay their debts. After losing her business and her house, the family was forced to rent a small house.

“Dagdag pa ang pagkaopera ng aking anak sa kidney (In addition, my child has to undergo kidney surgery),” she said. “Kayat itinuturing ko po ang pagkapanalo ko sa lotto na sagot sa lahat ng naging kahilingan ko sa Panginoon (That's why I consider my winning the lottery the answer to all my requests to the Lord),” she added.

The winner also shared that she has been a lotto patron for the past 15 years. “Sa nakaraang 9 na buwan napagpasyahan ko po na tayaang numero ang edad ng aking mga anak at sa hindi po inaasahang pagkakataon nakamit ko po ang aking pinapangarap (In the past 9 months, I decided to use the ages of my children when playing lotto and unexpectedly, I achieved my dream),” she said.

After winning and collecting her jackpot prize, the winner urged lotto bettors and the public not to lose hope.

“Nang bumagsak ang aming negosyo doon mas lalo akong nagpatuloy sa pagtangkilik ng lotto. Umasa ako na kapag nanalo ako makakabangon kami. (When our business collapsed, I continued to patronize the lottery even more. I hoped that if I win, we can pick our lives up),” she said.

“Kaya payo ko lang sa ating mga kababayan, ay wag lang tayo mawalan ng pag – asa dahil hindi natin alam kung kalian ito ipagkakaloob sa atin (So my only advice to our countrymen is that we should not lose hope because we don't know when it will be granted to us),” she ended.
