Laguna town readies to become PH 'glamping' capital

CAVINTI, Laguna – Mayor Arrantlee Arroyo said the local government unit (LGU) is preparing to launch this town as the new “glamping” capital of the Philippines in the first quarter of 2023.

Arroyo said that private businesses and the local government are strategizing plans and programs for glamping, defined as outdoor camping with amenities and comforts (such as beds, electricity, and access to indoor plumbing) not usually used when camping.

They will also offer tourism packages and planning to operate a floating cottage, a joint project between the LGU and private businesses with the support of private individuals. The floating cottage will roam around the man-made Lumut Lake to showcase the beautiful scenery.

Arroyo added that the municipal council, in support of the tourism program, has passed a resolution creating a tourism management hub.

He gathered the resort owner’s association here to strengthen the tourism program and expand accommodations from 100 to 500 guests.

Arroyo said this town has hotels, houses, campsites, parks, camps, and islands for rent where tourists can stay and asked hotels to make their places pet-friendly.

There are 100 waterfalls all over this town that tourists could see, the most popular of which is the Pagsanjan Falls.

Pagsanjan Falls was named after the town of Pagsanjan, this province, because the entrance to the falls is located there. However, Pagsanjan Falls is actually located here and this

town has constructed a 600-step metal ladder that only strong men and women can climb up to the peak of the falls.

Prominent personalities are residents here, among them Olympic weightlifting gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz and car racer Angie King.
