GMA, Cavite breaks ground for new dog pound

GENERAL MARIANO ALVAREZ, Cavite – The municipal government broke ground for a new dog pound in Barangay Poblacion 5 on Wednesday, Nov. 30.

The ground-breaking ceremony was led by Mayor Maricel Echevarria Torres and other local officials.

In a Facebook post, Torres said the establishment of the facility will help decrease the number of stray dogs on the streets and lessen rabies cases in the municipality.

The project is in accordance with the Anti-Rabies Act of 2007 which states that unregistered, stray, or unvaccinated dogs must be impounded and kept in the designated dog pound of the local government unit (LGU).

Torres also assured her constituents that the LGU continues to intensify its anti-rabies vaccination program.
