MB's ‘Through Untrue’ judged ‘Best Opinion Column’ in 44th CMMA

"Through Untrue," a weekly column written by Fr. Rolando V. Dela Rosa, O.P. on the Opinions section of the Manila Bulletin (MB), bagged the "Best Opinion Column" in the 44th Catholic Mass Media Awards (CMMA) held at the Manila Grand Opera Hotel last Nov. 23, 2022. The column also won this same category last year, during the 43rd CMMA.

Awarding the plaque to Fr. Dela Rosa (photo below, rightmost) are Manila Archbishop and CMMA Honorary Chairman Cardinal Jose F. Cardinal Advincula (center) and CMMA and the ALC Group Chairman, Mr. D. Edgard A. Cabangon.

The Archdiocese of Manila, through His Eminence the late Archbishop Jaime Cardinal Sin, launched the CMMA in 1978, in observance of the International Social Communication Day (established by the Universal Church to stress the importance of mass media and to instill a sense of responsibility in communicators). Since then, it has been a much-awaited annual event that honors responsible and values-instilled programs and communicators in radio, print, advertising, TV, and film.

Through the years, the Manila Bulletin has garnered various citations from the CMMA, either as winner or among a category's finalists. In the 43rd edition awarded in December of 2021, aside from Best Opinion Column, MB bagged the "Best Digital Ad Public Service" and the "Best Editorial Cartoon."
