Security agency owner in Bacolod gunned down

BACOLOD CITY -- A businessman was shot to death by two unidentified assailants on a motorcycle in Magsaysay Avenue, Henrietta Village, Barangay Singcang-Airport here on Wednesday, Dec. 7.

The victim was identified as Ivan Magbanua, 39, of Barangay Singcang-Airport, an owner of a security agency.

Major Joery Puerto, head of Police Station 8, said the victim was driving his sedan on his way home when he was pursued by the perpetrators.

When the victim slowed down, the perpetrators went near him and the back-rider, whose face was not covered, shot him at close range, Puerto said.

Puerto said the victim succumbed to gunshot wounds in the head and arms.

Puerto said that a car believed to be part of the gun attack was seen tailing the perpetrators when they fled.

Police recovered from the crime scene eight fired bullets of a .45 caliber firearm.

Puerto said they are looking into possible motives as business-related since the victim had assigned 20 guards in an ice cream warehouse in Barangay Mandalagan here upon the request of his client.

He said that the ice cream warehouse was strafed by unidentified persons last August, injuring one of the security guards.

Puerto said the victim had threats since last month, according to his business manager, but the latter did not elaborate further about it.

He said they are now reviewing a copy of a closed circuit television (CCTV) camera showing the perpetrators waiting at the area an hour before the shooting happened.
