Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan has vowed to focus on programs for the welfare of public school teachers and students in the city during his first “Ulat sa Guro” held at the Caloocan Sports Complex on Tuesday, Dec. 6, and Wednesday, Dec. 7.

“Palagi pong nakatutok ang ating administrasyon sa sektor ng edukasyon, tulad nga po ng ating laging sinasabi — Sa Caloocan, walang batang maiiwan (Our administration is always focused on the education sector, just like what we always say — In Caloocan, no child will be left behind),” Malapitan said.

He said also wants to give focus on additional benefits for teachers.

“Education is our foundation in building a bright and promising future, magkatuwang nating gabayan ang ating kabataan na makamit ang kanilang mga pinapangarap (let us guide our youth to achieve their dreams together),” the mayor added.

During the event, Malapitan commended the teachers and the Caloocan Schools Division Office (SDO) for their achievements and for the successful implementation of in-person classes in the city schools.

“Alam ko na malaki ang inyong sakripisyo para tiyakin na magkaroon ng angkop na kaalaman ang ating mga mag-aaral. Nakita ko po kung gaano kayo nagpursiging magpatuloy sa inyong sinumpaang propesyon kahit na kasagsagan ng pandemya (I know that you sacrifice a lot to make sure our students have the appropriate knowledge. I saw how much you persevered to continue in your sworn profession even at the height of the pandemic),” he said.

The mayor recalled some of his achievements for education during his term as the city’s first district representative such as the establishment of 1,058 classrooms. He also ensured that education of students is one of his administration’s top priorities.

He also said that the city is currently focused on improving the city schools’ classrooms and other facilities.

Malapitan also vowed to increase the public teacher’s augmentation allowance.

“Pinangako natin noon na itataas natin ang augmentation pay ng mga guro. Hindi man natin maibigay nang agaran, pero tinitiyak ko naman sa inyo na bubuuin natin ito sa aking unang termino (We promised that we will increase the augmentation pay of the teachers. We may not be able to provide it immediately, but I assure you that it will be given in full during my first term),” Malapitan told the educators.

SDO-Caloocan Superintendent Nanette Losaria and Caloocan District 1 Rep. Oscar “Oca” Malapitan were present at the event.
