Excuse workers availing of Bakunahang Bayan II, DOLE urges employers

Private employees who are interested in availing Covid-19 vaccination during the government's second batch of nationwide vaccination must be excused from work, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said.

A Labor Advisory, Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma said all employees in the private sector, particularly those with a due or missed schedule of vaccine doses and or those who will accompany their children for vaccination were covered of “excused absence” once they take part in the Bakunahang Bayan II: Special Vaccination Day.

Laguesma underscored that employers are highly encouraged to allow their employees excused to report to work without being considered absent, provided that “they get vaccinated and/or accompany their children on the scheduled vaccination or experiencing adverse vaccine-related effects and/or have to take care of their children who experience adverse vaccine-related effects.”

“This guideline is hereby issued in support of the government’s implementation of the Bakunahang Bayan II: Special Vaccination from 05 to 07 December 2022,” the advisory read.

The special vaccination day is an initiative of the Department of Health (DOH) to further the promotion of Covid-19 booster coverage.
