BAGUIO CITY – Intelligence operatives apprehended a wanted car-napper and recovered a stolen sports utility vehicle along Lake Drive here last week.
The Baguio City Police Office reported that operatives of Police Station 7 together with the Regional Intelligence Division and Highway Patrol Unit–Cordillera, cornered the suspect identified as Zaro T. Loogan, 24, of Tadian Mt. Province who was using different aliases to elude arrest.
Some of the aliases the suspect had used were ‘Allan Perez Bomilao,’ ‘Glenn Mathew Mabalanan Bautista,’ ‘Richard Glenn L. Ramirez,’ and ‘Eduard Gallardo Abenoja.’ The suspect was seen on board a metallic red SUV with fake plate number NGF 5247.
The pursuing authorities immediately searched and checked the corresponding papers of the SUV and found out that the man was a wanted person who had a standing warrant of arrest.
The warrant was issued by Judge Emmanuel Cacho Rasing of Branch 3, Regional Trial Court, Baguio City, on November 28, 2022 against the suspect for violation of Republic Act 10883 (New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016) with a recommended bail of P200,000 for his temporary liberty.
Further verification revealed that the SUV the suspect was driving was included in the list of stolen vehicles reported on July 25, 2022 in La Trinidad, Benguet and this was also confirmed by the owner himself.
Several victims of "rent a car-tangay" gathered at the BCPO CIU office to file complaints against the suspect who failed to return their vehicles after renting them.
The accused is currently under the custody of the CIU for proper documentation and disposition while multiple carnapping charges are being prepared against him.
