OVP satellite office to open in Bicol next year—VP Duterte


Bicol region is the next destination where the Office of the Vice President (OVP) will open a new satellite office to make its social services and programs accessible.

In an recent interview with Pastor Apollo Quiboloy on SMNI, Vice President Sara Duterte announced the opening of another satellite office in Bicol.

“Our plan for next year is to put up a satellite area in one of the regions as well in Luzon that is being left behind,” Duterte said in Filipino, referring to Bicol.

“Isa ‘yan sa lugar na gusto namin lagyan ng (That’s one of the areas where we want to put up a satellite office) para mapaabot din namin ang (so we can bring the) OVP projects in their areas and change lives,” she added.

Bicol is the political bailwick of her predecessor, former vice president Leni Robredo.

Last month, Duterte had already announced the planned opening of three more OVP satellite offices, but she did not disclose specifically its areas.

The OVP has seven existing satellite offices in Bacolod, Surigao del Sur, Cebu, Davao, Tacloban, Dagupan, and Zamboanga.

Its central office is housed at the Robinsons Cybergate Plaza in Mandaluyong City, where Duterte holds office.

The Vice President highlighted once again the need for the government to reach out to more Filipinos in need outside Luzon and Metro Manila.

“I’m lucky because I come from Mindanao. Naiintindihan ko ang importansya na ang serbisyo umabot sa iba’t ibang lugar (I understand the importance of the services reaching various areas),” she said.
