Marcos says gov't did 'everything' so every child feels Christmas spirit

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. said Saturday that the government has done everything to "make sure that every Filipino child has a Christmas."

At a Christmas Tree lighting ceremony in Malacañang, Marcos said making Filipino children feel the Christmas spirit was "a good goal" for the government this season.

Despite challenges brought by Covid-19 and other crises, the President believed Filipinos are still blessed.

"Here we are. We have all been blessed," he said.

Marcos, who will celebrate Christmas for the first time as the country's leader, said he is happy to lead the activity because "we have all been waiting for this."

"Tatlong taon na tayong hindi nakapagpasko ng pasko na kagaya ng pasko ng Pilipino (It's been three years since we haven't celebrated a Filipino Christmas)" he said.

"Wala ka ng makikita na kahit saan sa buong mundo na mas masaya na tao (You wouldn't see any other people who are happier than Filipinos in celebrating Christmas)," he added.

First lady Liza Araneta-Marcos; former first lady and Marcos' mother, Imelda; and Vice President Sara Duterte also joined the activity.
