CEBU CITY – Bohol Gov. Aris Aumentado recently launched a program called “Meet and Greet” to bring the province’s services to the people.
Under the program, Aumentado will visit various towns and meet municipal officials, barangay chairmen, barangay livestock aides (BALA), barangay nutrition workers, and senior citizens.
“This meeting and greeting is bringing services to the people because we are only servants,”Aumentado said.
The program initially went to the towns of Anda, Guindulman, and Dimiao where the governor was joined by officials from the provincial health office, office of the provincial veterinarian, provincial treasurer's office, and executive assistants.
“I am just fulfilling my responsibility that I will bring the provincial government closer to the people,” he said.
During the series of visits, the governor led the distribution of tanod kits and canned goods to chosen beneficiaries.
Financial assistance worth P25,000 was given to each barangay and honoraria to the Bala and nutrition workers.
In Valencia town, a fiber glass boat and other accessories were turned over to the local government headed by Mayor Dionisio Neil Balite which was funded by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR).
Aumentado added that he will distribute P200,000 to each barangay next year. However, the governor said that next year, not all barangays will receive the amount due to the reduced share of the province in the National Tax Allocation (formerly Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA).
Aumentado, however, assured that by 2024, all the 1,109 barangays will already receive P200,000.
