CEBU CITY – A former overseas Filipino worker (OFW) and her cousin were arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Tisa here on Thursday night, Dec. 1.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Visayas (PDEA 7) identified the suspects as Maria Corazon Caburnay and Teodulo Canoy, a 50-year-old garbage collector.
Seized from them were two packs of suspected shabu weighing at least 51 grams with an estimated market value of P346,900.
The suspects were high-value targets, said Leia Alcantara, information officer of PDEA-7.
She said Caburnay worked as a domestic helper in Saudi Arabia.
Alcantara said concerned citizens provided information that the suspects were selling shabu. It took a month-long case build-up before the information was confirmed, she added.
The suspects were reportedly capable of selling 100 grams of shabu a week.
