“We did a presentation of the tourism sites we have in the Philippines and of course we also highlighted the province of Bohol,” said Aumentado, representative of the second district of the province in the House and was part of the Philippine delegation in the recent Türkiye Tourism Roadshow and Uzakrota Travel Summit 2022 in Istanbul, Türkiye.

The Philippine delegation was led by Philippine Ambassador to Türkiye Maria Elena Algabre and Consul Lorena Joy Banagodos.

Also in the Istanbul leg of the Philippine Tourism Roadshow were officials from the Department of Tourism such as Dr. Paulo Tugbang.

Lapu-Lapu City Rep. Cindi Chan was in the trip as well as representatives from various travel agencies and airline companies.

Aumentado, a member of the House Committee on Tourism, said they also invited the people of Türkiye to study in the Philippines.

“There was also a product presentation in the field of education. We invited them to study English in the Philippines,” Aumentado said.

Aumentado said having English as Second Language (ESL) schools in Bohol will give the province a boost in tourism.

“Hopefully, there will be a school in Bohol that would offer ESL so we can get the Turkish market,” said Aumentado, wife of Bohol Gov. Aris Aumentado.

The congresswoman’s trip to Turkey was in line with the governor’s vision of reenergizing Bohol’s tourism after it was badly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Gov. Aumentado said that tourism in Bohol is picking up after travel restrictions have eased.

The province is known for its white sand beaches, diving spots, various historical treasures, and rich cultural heritage. The Chocolate Hills is one of the most-visited tourist sites in the province.
