Denice Zamboanga: 'The Menace' is back

Denice Zamboanga has vowed to make a successful comeback and get back to her winning ways once she steps on the Circle and faces Lin Heqin of China in ONE on Prime Video 5 Saturday morning at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Denice Zamboanga (ONE Championship)

Zamboanga and Heqin kickstart mixed martial arts action in the lead card of the ONE Prime 5 and the Filipina fighter is determined to get the victory this time around after suffering two straight defeats at the hands of South Korean opponent Seo Hee Ham.

After all, Zamboanga, the No. 3 atomweight contender, still aims no less than the world title shot.

But first, she has to climb the ladder once more especially after falling down from the top spot, which is now held by Stamp Fairtex.

"That's the goal, to take the atomweight title shot. And this fight, I'm gonna show that Denice "The Menace" is gonna come back on Saturday," said Zamobanga, who holds an 8-2 record. "I'm gonna show how Filipinos are the best fighters."

Heading into this bout, Denice also drew motivation from the fact that his brother Drex will also fight in ONE: 164 which is slated in the evening.

Drex will face Adonis Sevilleno, the winner of the ONE Warrior Series: Philippines and the latest member of Benguet's famed Team Lakay.

"I'm very excited and very grateful that ONE Championship gave me this opportunity and also to my brother -- to fight in the same week," said the younger Zamboanga.

"Sobrang saya noon, 'di ba? Pareho kayong magkapatid magkasama so I will make sure your tickets are worth it for this fight night."

Heqin, for her part, holds a 15-4-1 mixed martial arts record. She has an 2-2 record in ONE Championship, taking down the likes of Jomary Torres and Bi Nguyen.
