SUV driver crashes into concrete barriers in Manila

A driver of a sports utility vehicle (SUV) crashed into concrete barriers on Padre Burgos Avenue in Manila on Thursday, Dec. 1.

The Vehicle Traffic Investigation Section (VTIS) of the Manila District Traffic Enforcement Unit (MDTEU) identified the SUV driver as Zhijian Wu, 50, a resident of Tayuman Street, Binondo Manila.

Based on the initial investigation, the front portion of the Toyota Fortuner SUV hit the three concrete barriers in front of the Katipunan Monument along Padre Burgos Avenue north-bound, Ermita, Manila at around 4:45 a.m. on Thursday.

The driver sustained minor injuries and was cited for damage to property among other violations.

The authorities have yet to determine the estimated damage to the vehicle and the barriers.

The accident caused heavy traffic in the northbound lane of Padre Burgos Avenue going to Quiapo.

The driver and his vehicle were brought to the Manila Traffic Bureau office.
