Tourists destinations in Tanay, Antipolo City continue to attract visitors amid cold weather
By Nel Andrade
The cold breeze brought about by "amihan” or northeast monsoon that is being felt in the province, specially in upland villages of Tanay and Antipolo City, continues to attract more tourists to visit some destinations including coffee shops, restaurants and parks.
In Tanay, coffee shops and restaurants by the Marikina Laguna Quezon (MARILAQUE) Road have been filled with tourists day and night since the Christmas season started.
On MARILAQUE Road, several private vehicles can be seen parked on the roadside beside coffee shops and restaurants, an indication that visitors were staying in those establishments and enjoying the overlooking view of Tanay mountains and the so-called “sea of clouds”.
Because of the volume of tourists coming to restaurants in Tanay, some dine-in customers had to wait for an hour or more to be served with the food they ordered.
Cold temperature brought by ‘amihan’ has been felt in most parts of the province for the past few days.
In Antipolo City, its Sumulong Park has always been filled with visitors since Dec. 25, with most of them, aside from the weather, enjoying the view of the Christmas decorations and the food served in restaurants in the vicinity of the Antipolo Cathedral.
Tourists are encouraged to wear sweat shirt or jacket as the temperature in the province dipped to 22 to 23 degrees Celsius or even lower during the early morning or early evening.
Tanay and Antipolo City can be reached by private or public utility vehicle either from the Marcos Highway in Marikina City towards MARILAQUE Road or Ortigas Avenue from EDSA via Cainta.
