Yassi's advice to the barangay: 'Çompete only with yourself'

It Girl Yassi Pressman has been announced as the 2023 Ginebra San Miguel Calendar Girl in glittery ceremonies last night at the Makati Diamond Residences. Naturally, she was asked how it feels to be in the league of Marian Rivera, Anne Curtis and Pia Wurtzbach who were also Calendar Girls in previous years.
Yassi, a mental health advocate, said it's an honor to be the "Queen of the Barangay" for 2023. "I know a lot of people who came before me were almost perfect, I look up to them but I don't wanna think of any comparison. I told myself to just go for it, be on my healthiest journey and create competition only with myself," she stressed.
The 27-year old British-Filipino actress and entrepreneur is mindful of the fact that she is a role model to millions who follow her on showbiz and social media. Her advice to her peers is to "drink responsibly. Don't overdo it and make sure you're always with friends para safe kayo."
Yassi said she can give this advice because she's had her own share of fun and experimentation as a young girl. " I know the effects when you overdo it."
She pointed out that she had to go on a "big fitness journey" to prepare for her role as a Calendar Girl " which she also described as a "coming of age." By being fitter and stronger, she's able to exemplify Ginebra's credo to be "Ganado sa Buhay" and "Never Say Die."
"It was a lot of discipline for me mentally and physically. But I feel good, I feel happy and I feel healthy. I want to inspire people to get back on track too," Yassi noted.
One of the things she looks forward to as a GSM ambassador is meeting the members of the popular Barangay Ginebra San Miguel basketball team and cheering for them.
Yassi, a sports fanatic and boxing enthusiast, replied: "I love basketball so much. I hope to see a game one day and feel the energy of the crowd."
The 2023 Ginebra San Miguel Calendar features the alluring Yassi in six layouts which was inspired by different cocktail mixes. It was also shot in different locations, like an auto repair shop as well as a sunset and bonfire by the beach.
Yassi, who made a name for herself as Alyana in "Ang Probinsyano," kept mum to the question if she is going to be a GMA Network star soon. She simply said she will be very busy with her career.
"Merong isang napakagandang project na gagawin. Isang pelikula at isang serye. Also for non-showbiz, I just launched my mental health app. It's the first app in the Philippines where people can go and visit psychologists. This is very big and important to me,'' Yassi stressed.
