Senate approves budget of DBM, DOF, NEDA, LEDAC for 2023

The Senate has approved the proposed budget for next year of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), the Department of Finance (DOF), the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), and the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC).

The proposed budget of the DBM for 2023 is P1.8-billion, while the DOF is at P30.6-billion.

NEDA’s budget for next year is P13.2-billion. However, the Upper Chamber has not yet granted the budget proposal of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)—an attached agency of NEDA—as some senators still have pending queries about its funding.

A copy of the schedule provided by Dennis Legaspi, communications director of Sen. Sonny Angara’s office, likewise, showed that the proposed P3.08-million budget of the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) has also been approved.

All four agencies’ budget are “deemed submitted for consideration,” Legaspi said.

Angara, chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, defended the budgets of the DOF, DBM and the NEDA.

Senator Francis Tolentino, for his part, defended the budget of the LEDAC.
