Metro Manila's daily Covid-19 cases may drop to 100 by end-November, says OCTA fellow

OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David said that if the current trends continue, the number of daily Covid-19 cases in Metro Manila may drop to 100 by the end of November.

Metro Manila reported 164 new Covid-19 cases on Nov. 8, based on the Department of Health data.

In an update on Wednesday, Nov. 9, David said that the “current trends, if they continue, could lead to less than 5 percent positivity rate and about 100 new cases per day in the NCR (National Capital Region) by end of November.”

Positivity rate refers to the number of individuals who yielded positive results from among those who have been tested for Covid-19.

David said that Metro Manila had registered a seven-day positivity rate of 7.8 percent on Nov. 7, down from 9.5 percent on Oct. 31.

Moreover, NCR’s average daily attack rate or incidence rate was 1.54 per 100,000 population as of Nov. 8, with a one week growth rate in cases of -29 percent.

The reproduction number and healthcare utilization rate also remained “low” at 0.75 and 26 percent, respectively.
