45 informal workers in N. Vizcaya get over P1.1-M aid from DOLE

At least 45 informal workers in Nueva Vizcaya have benefited from the government's Kabuhayan Starter Kit Project, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) reported on Tuesday, Nov. 8.

DOLE Nueva Vizcaya Field Office Chief Elizabeth U. Martinez said the beneficiaries received 45 sets of starter kits worth P1,138,400.

The business package, which consisted of tools and equipment, was handed over to the municipality of Bambang.

Disadvantaged workers received starter kits such as those for auto repair shops with vulcanizing services, motorcycle repair services, rice retailing, snacks, and frozen vending, dressmaking/tailoring, lutong-ulam vending, street food vending, organic vegetable crop production and selling, sari-sari stores with frozen goods, welding services, barber shops, and hair care services, electrical services, and baking and pastry.

Martinez urged the beneficiaries to take advantage of the DOLE’s program to integrate their livelihoods to help their benefactors and family members cope with the rising prices of commodities and services.

"Ang aming tanging hiling ay pagbutihin Ninyo at ingatan ang kagamitan na pangnegosyong bigay ng ating gobyerno dahil gusto naming na kayo’y maging matagumpay sa inyong mga Negosyo (We ask our beneficiaries to improve and take care of the business equipment provided by our government. We adhere to seeing you all become successful in your businesses)," said Martinez.

Aside from the distribution of the Kabuhayan starter kit, the beneficiaries also underwent a Business and Work Improvement Course (BWIC) to aid them in the proper management of handling a business.
