Two workers electrocuted while cleaning fishpond in Lemery, Batangas

LEMERY, Batangas -- Two fishpond workers died after they were electrocuted while cleaning the fishpond on Monday afternoon, Nov. 7, at Barangay Nonong Casteo this town.

The victims were identified as Renante Batchar, 41, single, shrimp feeder, and resident of Barangay Talo-toan, Concepcion, Iloilo and Mark Anthony Bethel, 22, single, and resident of Barangay Nonong Casto, Lemery, Batangas Initial investigation revealed that around 4 p.m. the two victims got into the fishpond to clean it without knowing of a live wire from a submersible pump.

The two victims sustained injuries in different parts of their body and were declared dead on arrival by attending physician Dr. Divina Gracia Landicho at Batangas Provincial Hospital in Barangay Palanas, Lemery, Batangas.

Lemery police still conducted an investigation while the victims were subjected for autopsy.
