Navotas City will reimplement the truck ban starting Monday, Nov. 14, the local government announced on Tuesday, Nov. 8.

"Vehicles with eight or more wheels such as cargo and freight trucks, or those with a gross weight of 4,500 kilograms including trac tor trailers and container haulers, are prohibited from traversing M. Naval St. from Agora to Bagumbayan-Bangkulasi Bridge, and from C-4 Road to Brgy. Tangos North; Gov. Pascual St.; C4 Road; and H. Lopez Boulevard," said the local government.

The truck ban will be enforced on the said routes every Monday to Saturday, excluding holidays, from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

It added that trucks are allowed to use only the designated truck lanes for periods not covered by the restriction.

"People are back to commuting to and from work now that businesses and various industries are fully operational. Through the reimplementation of the truck ban, we hope to ease traffic congestion and make the commute less burdensome," Navotas City Mayor John Rey Tiangco said.

In line with this, C3 Road to the Caloocan-Navotas boundary and C-3 and R-10 Roads to Manila boundary are identified as special truck lanes and will remain open to all passing vehicles as long as they stay in their designated lane.

Trucks that contain perishable goods may apply for a "Special Pass" from the Navotas City Traffic and Parking Management Office (CTPMO) to use the non-truck lanes and prevent delivery delays.

Meanwhile, a total truck ban will also be imposed along Lapu-Lapu Avenue and San Rafael Village, exempting vehicles owned by businesses within these areas.

Violators of the truck ban will be fined P5,000 and other corresponding penalties under the Navotas City Traffic Management Code.
