32 families affected in Navotas City fire

Thirty-two families were affected by a fire that hit a residential area in Brgy. San Roque, Navotas City early Tuesday morning, Nov. 8, the Navotas City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) head confirmed.

According to Navotas City DRRMO Head Vonne Villanueva, the fire gutted around 20 houses which were made of light materials.

The Bureau of Fire Protection said the fire on Monte Loyola St. Brgy, San Roque was raised to the first alarm at 03:45 a.m. It escalated to second alarm at around 03:54 a.m.

The fire was declared under control at around 04:34 a.m. and was extinguished at around 4:58 a.m.

The Navotas City Fire Station said that there were no injuries reported.

Probers placed the estimated damage to property at P50,000.

Villanueva said that according to some of the residents, the fire was allegedly caused by an unattended lighted candle in one of the houses in the area.

Investigators are still determining the cause of the fire which was reported to have originated from a bedroom at the second floor of a house.
