Meet the House's newest member: Milagros Aquino Magsaysay

United Senior Citizens Party-list Rep. Milagros Aquino Magsaysay took her oath as the newest member of the House of Representatives on Monday afternoon, Nov. 7.

Administering the oath was none other than House Speaker Martin Romualdez (Leyte 1st district). The motion to carry out the oath-taking was Majority Leader Mannix Dalipe (Zamboanga City 2nd district).

Magsaysay hails from San Juan, La Union.

Her entry to the House widened the representation of senior citizens in the lower chamber, as least by party-list name.

Senior Citizens Party-list, an entirely different group, already has a sitting representative in Rodolfo Ordanes.

Before Magsaysay's oath-taking, there were 311 listed members of the House.

Meanwhile, Dalipe was designated as legislative caretaker of Zamboanga del Norte's 1st district moments later, through the motion of Senior Deputy Majority Leader Sandro Marcos (Ilocos Norte 1st district).

Monday was the first day of sessions in the House since Sept. 30.
