After almost a week of being closed to motorists, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) re-opened on Sunday, Nov. 6, the Kennon Road which was shut down due to safety issues following the onslaught of severe tropical storm "Paeng".
The Joint Inter-Agency Task Force (JIATF) Kennon, however, reminded all motorists passing tin the areas observe extra precautions.
“Drive safely, strictly adhere to traffic and parking rules (and safety signage), and follow the speed limit as indicated in various signage along Kennon Road,” the advisory continues.
The task force also reminded road users that vehicles or trucks exceeding ten tons are prohibited from crossing Kennon Road.
“In case of inclement weather, imminent weather disturbance, or detected ground shaking/earthquake with or without aftershock/s which may trigger landslides and rock falls, the DPWH CAR (Cotdillera Administrative Region, through the Benguet 1st DEO (District Engineering Office) , shall immediately close the Kennon Road until further notice, as public safety is guaranteed,” it added.
